Stitch Fix #8 - December 2015

I had asked for this fix to be scheduled after Christmas, but for some reason it came before Christmas. So with the holiday, family visiting, and some illness, I wasn't able to take the modeled photos that I usually take (it's also why this post has been delayed). So I apologize for that.

Once again, Andrea was my stylist and although (spoiler alert!) I kept only two items in this Fix, I still feel like she "gets" my style, so I was happy to have her again.

Once again I asked for a plaid top, but Andrea said they didn't have any in stock. I suspect that my condition of no tab sleeves might be a reason as well since most of the plaid shirts I've seen on Pinterest have tab sleeves, which I just can't stand. So I got three tops, one cardigan, and some shoes.

Brand: BC Footwear Union Contrast Material Booties
Price: $90

When I pulled these shoes out of the bag, I really liked the look and thought they would be a great addition to my wardrobe. Then I felt the shoe (I actually only unwrapped one of them) and it felt very stiff. I gave it a chance and put it on. Ugh. Very uncomfortable because of the stiffness. I didn't feel that this stiffness was something that would go away after the shoes had been worn for a while, so I put it back in the bag. Great style, but I'm not putting shoes in my closet that I won't wear because they hurt my feet, especially at this price point.

Brand: Fun2Fun Favio Split Neck Top
Price: $44

Although at first I was disappointed that there wasn't "color" with this top, when I picked it up, I liked the feel of the fabric. Then I tried it on. It fit rather well and I thought that it would be a nice top worn both by itself as well as under a cardigan. And the black and white means that it won't be hard to match it up with other pieces. So this one was a keeper!

Brand: Loveappella Evie Draw String Funnel Neck Sweatshirt
Price: $64

I've seen this top (in various colors) on Pinterest, so I was happy to see it in my box. But then I picked it up. And, to be honest, the texture of the fabric just really turned me off. It wasn't rough exactly but I'm not sure how else to describe it. The inside felt fine, so wearing it against my skin was okay. But touching the outside of the top just wasn't something I liked. (I think that I figured out in this Fix that the feel of the clothing is just as important as the style and fit.) So I know that even though this would be a nice addition to the wardrobe, I just wouldn't wear it.

Brand: Skies are Blue Cate Knit Top
Price: $54

Oh the color. I definitely wanted to like this top and have this color in my closet. But I just couldn't keep it after trying it on. Although I like looser fitting clothing, this top was too loose (and I don't think it was a sizing issue). I felt like I was wearing a tent. Perhaps someone with a larger chest would be quite happy in this top, but it just wasn't right for me.

Brand: Honey Punch Layla Elbow Patch Detail Cardigan
Price: $48

Love! The cardigan looks so shapeless on the hanger, but it really is wonderful to wear. I love the large stripes and the elbow patch--cute! Plus it's just soft and comfy. This is one I'll wear around the house as well as out.

What Is Stitch Fix?
Stitch Fix is a service where a personal stylist sends you five pieces each month (or however often you decide to receive your fixes) based upon your profile/suggestions/previous likes and dislikes from Fixes. You have three days to try on the pieces and decide what to keep and what to send back. If you keep everything from your Fix, you get a 25% discount. (You do pay a $20 styling fee for each shipment, but that goes toward your purchase as long as you keep one item.)

You can tell your stylist what you like and don't like, and Stitch Fix suggests that you create a Pinterest board with styles/items you like so your stylist can view them. And I can say with almost all of my Fixes, my stylist definitely paid attention to my Pinterest board because she sent me several of the actual pieces I've pinned, which was really neat.

If you want to try out Stitch Fix for yourself, please use my referral link to sign up (If you sign up through that, I get a $25 credit when you are sent your first fix. Thank you in advance!)
